Introduction

Northern Ireland Census 2001 Key Statistics is the second report from the 2001 Census of Population for Northern Ireland.  It provides summary statistics (Key Statistics) for the majority of Census questions and topics, mainly presented as percentages of population totals. They are presented for a variety of geographic levels including: Northern Ireland, Local Government District, Health and Social Services Board, Education and Library Board, Parliamentary Constituency, NUTS Level III (European Union Nomenclature of Units for Territorial Statistics), Electoral Ward and Census output area level.

Northern Ireland Census 2001 Key Statistics for Settlements is the sixth report from the 2001 Census of Population for Northern Ireland.  It provides a statistical profile of each settlement with a population of 1000 or more usually residents, covering topics such as age, educational qualifications, labour market status, provision of care, ethnic group, religion and community background.  The settlements have been grouped in accordance with the eight way classification outlined in the report entitled "Statistical classification and delineation of settlements".

Key Statistics for Settlements with a usually resident population of between 500 and 999 persons:  A statistical profile of each settlement is available, covering topics such as age, educational qualifications, labour market status, provision of care, ethnic group, religion and community background.

Settlements with less than 500 usual residents:  Household and population counts are available for smaller settlements with less than 500 usual residents.

Key Statistics for Super Output Areas:  Summary statistics (Key Statistics) for the majority of Census questions and topics, mainly presented as percentages of population totals for Super Output Areas, which are aggregates of Census Output Areas containing an average of just less than 2000 usually resident persons on Census Day (29 April 2001).
